Actress Shilpa Shetty has expressed her anger and disappointment over an unfortunate incident that played out last evening which involved bouncers of a restaurant in Bandra, assaulting two camera men. The actress took to her social media handle to condemn the incident calling it “unnecessary”.
Saddened by the way things unfolded last night, Shilpa released an official statement that read, “Omg, appalled and disappointed at the way these photographers were bashed up… Really unnecessary… I even posed for them before I left and the next thing I knew, they got into fisticuffs violently when I left…Feel bad for the paps they stand for hrs sometimes for a shot…They are part of my fraternity and no one needs to be beaten for doing his job. Absolutely condemn what happened.”
The assault took place after Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra left the restaurant in their car following a photo call. The fist fight lead to an FIR being registered at Khar police station and two arrests being made thus far.

Graphic videos from the scene saw the bouncers landing heavy blows on the two photographers identified as Sonu and Himanshu Shinde, leaving them bloodied and bruised.
The restaurant’s management has also come forward to offer the photographers a formal apology and to assure the media personnel that the necessary action has been taken against the bouncers apart from offering to clear medical costs incurred during the unfortunate incident.
The statement read, “During last night’s incident, the people involved were personnel who are hired via external vendors – as is the practice, the security agency assigns their personnel to us and other establishments based on who is available that day.”
They went on to state that the management and staff were inside in the restaurant at the time of the incident and were made aware of the same, a while after it began. The statement further read, “We are changing security agencies today as we do not want to take the risk of this happening again, as well as personally apologising to the media involved. We are also collecting all information so that we are able to offer to take care of any and all medical bills that may have resulted due to this incident.”
